Who We Are
Yellow Moon is a venture between Rhett Seeley and Corinn Marriott; Rhett as the Winemaker and Corinn as the creative director. Rhett fell in love with Cabernet Franc over a decade ago when he first started working in the Finger Lakes wine industry. Our wines are made with the love and passion of the farmers, the community, and the terroir of our home in the Finger Lakes.
Winemaking
Our winemaking philosophy, is to be as simple and transparent as possible. Winemaking is a snapshot of a moment and place in time. This encapsulates or philosophy, we want to share with you a snapshot of a moment and a place in our lives. The wines are made with intention with no fining or filtration agents. We use exclusively natural yeast to capture the microbiomes of the vineyards we are sourcing from. Above all else our philosophy on winemaking is to highlight the vineyard sites in which we are lucky enough to source grapes from. What makes the Finger Lakes special is the land and the people, of this community. Through our winemaking we want to share our home with you.
Why Yellow Moon?
“When I was a kid, I was the ever curious and slightly annoying son who would always ask why. Whether it was observations of the natural world, why my sister was annoying, or why I could not eat ice cream for dinner. One of my favorite games to play was to ask a question such as why was the sky blue, and when my dad would give me an answer I would again ask why, and this went on in perpetuity, When my very patient father would not know the answer or would get tired of playing he would simply respond “because the moon is Yellow. When I decided that I wanted to pursue wine as a career I told my parents about it and my dad said “Why?” to which my response was “Because the moon is Yellow. The name serves as an endless reminder of my appreciation for my family and the importance of Curiosity and patience.” - Rhett
